Gil Frank - The Frenchy Writer

Gil Frank writes in English, French and Hebrew. Raised in France, he lived in Israel and after 40 years immigrated to the United States in 2003.

Living in Atlanta, his desire to own the language and understand America led him to plow through William Faulkner, James Baldwin and Toni Morrison novels.

Despite his books being based on his experience he believes that life-writing amounts to no more exactitude than fabulation or storytelling, as our lives themselves are often based on the stories we tell ourselves.

He uses a collage of styles. He calls his books works to mark the difference between market-oriented products, categorized by genres, and the literary realm in all its manifestations. He does not consider himself a lyricist, though several of his readers find his wording poetic.

He practices the saying: ‘Writing is sustained reading’ as an intense reader, first for pleasure, but also to perfect his craft and learn about other authors.

Gil has published three literary works, Yocheved, The Friend of My Mind, The Book of Unearthing and The Friend of My Mind, A Love Story. He also translated Yocheved, the Friend of My Mind in the French language.
